Prof. Ayman Salih, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, received the delegation of the European Investment Bank and the Union for the Mediterranean, which is implementing a two-day training program at the Faculty of Business, in the presence of Prof. Khaled Kadri, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations Sector, Prof. Hayam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Graduate Studies and Research.
The delegation included Mrs. Flavia Palanza, former Director of the European Investment Bank for Neighboring Countries, Mr. Andrea Tinagli, Representative of the European Investment Bank in the Union for the Mediterranean, and Mr. Giuseppe Provenzano, Director of the Higher Education and Research Project in the Union for the Mediterranean.
Prof. Ayman Saleh stressed the university's keenness to support relations with international organizations, which is reflected in supporting the university's research capabilities in supporting sustainable economic development plans and Egypt's 2030 vision for development.
For his part, Prof. Khaled Kadri explained that the training program, which will be held over two full days on Monday and Tuesday corresponding to 20 and 21 March 2023, comes under the title “The European Investment Bank and its role in the development cooperation of the European Union.” The program helps graduates of the college in preparing for the labor market and how to communicate with international organizations such as The European Investment Bank and the Union for the Mediterranean in order to obtain the necessary financing opportunities, planning, and assistance in establishing projects, especially small and medium enterprises.
As Prof. Hayam Wahba stated that within the framework of the agreement signed between the Union for the Mediterranean and the European Investment Bank, an agreement was prepared according to which the two institutions would prepare the structure of a training program on the European Investment Bank in the southern Mediterranean to develop a joint initiative, with a special focus on the European Investment Bank and its role in the Mediterranean region, and the role of the Union for the Mediterranean in creating a framework for training activities that are offered to graduates of the Faculty of Business, especially in the field of economics, finance, investment, and financial institutions.
Her Excellency explained that the program includes 4 training units during the two days, with a focus for the most part on a case study dealing with the European Investment Bank in the development cooperation of the European Union.
The European Union's financial structure for development, dialogue between partners through the Union for the Mediterranean and its role in policy formulation, as well as the role of the European Investment Bank within the structure of the European Union, were also discussed.
