The President of Ain Shams University and the Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities inaugurate the activities of the first annual conference of the Scientific Association for Measurement and Evaluation within the activities of the 11th Annual Ain Shams University International Conference

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, inaugurated the activities of the first annual conference of the Scientific Association for Measurement and Evaluation - Association of Arab Universities entitled "Measurement and Evaluation in the Era of Digital Transformation" Evaluation for Better Learning, which is held within the framework of the activities of the eleventh annual international conference of Ain Shams University under the title "Knowledge Economy... for a Better Life", in the presence of Prof. Mona Abdel-Aal Al-Zahri, President of the Conference, Secretary-General of the Scientific Association for Measurement and Evaluation, and a group of faculty members and those interested.

In his speech, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, expressed his happiness at participating in the Measurement and Evaluation Conference, which has a rich agenda. He thanked, on behalf of Ain Shams University and the Egyptian universities, Prof. Ezzat Salama for his ideas that made a quantum leap for the Association of Arab Universities, from which many emanate. of associations, which created a kind of momentum and exchange of experiences.

He also praised the role played by Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel-Al-Zahri in the field of measurement and evaluation, stressing that she had proven her success in all the positions she assumed.

The President of Ain Shams University confirmed that measurement and evaluation, in recent years, has become an important element in university education and evaluation for all examinations in all years and specializations, which had a positive impact on the educational process, and he emphasized his full support for it, whether within the faculties or in the main association of measurement and evaluation affiliated with it. to the Association of Arab Universities based in Ain Shams University, pointing out that Ain Shams University is open to cooperation with all parties.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama said that in light of the digital transformation that the world is witnessing, the competition between universities is increasing significantly in terms of attracting students and professors, providing digital infrastructure, integration between face-to-face and distance learning, innovation, scientific research, and providing distinguished educational experiences.

Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama said that the purpose of measurement and evaluation is to evaluate and improve the performance of universities and academic programs and to provide an effective and influential educational experience for students, as they are not limited to evaluating students only.

Also, through measurement and evaluation, we can identify the strengths and weaknesses in the education process and take the necessary measures to improve them. Moreover, measurement and evaluation contribute to enhancing responsibility and transparency in the field of education, and measurement and evaluation can act as a tool for accountability, as it can be used to evaluate the quality of education and achieve Continuous improvement in the educational system.

For her part, Prof. Mona Abdel-Al-Zahri thanked Ain Shams University for hosting the Measurement and Evaluation Conference as part of its annual international conference.

She explained that despite the efforts made in developing evaluation systems and tools and raising the efficiency of faculty members in the field of measurement and evaluation in Arab universities, there is still an urgent need for more effort to apply and develop the latest evaluation systems and methods and build its tools, hence the importance of establishing the Scientific Association for Measurement And evaluation at its headquarters in the Tatweer Department to contribute to achieving justice, transparency and quality, in addition to raising the efficiency of faculty members and preparing scientific cadres.

She added that the association aims to spread the culture of measurement and evaluation and provide integrated solutions to develop the system in Arab universities, in order to contribute to achieving justice, transparency and quality, in addition to raising the efficiency of faculty members and preparing scientific cadres.

She concluded her words with sincere wishes that this conference will contribute to benefiting from mutual experiences to strengthen the measurement and evaluation system and give us the opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of digital transformation in education in general and measurement and evaluation in particular.

The conference, which lasted throughout the day, dealt with several topics: Employing technology to serve the measurement and evaluation system, the quality of the measurement and evaluation system in light of digital transformation, methods and mechanisms of assessment based on competencies, innovative methods in assessing emotional aspects, and the role of digital transformation in developing assessment in education. The first session was titled "The Role of Digital Transformation in Developing the Evaluation System in Medical Education", and the second session was titled "Issues of Measurement and Evaluation in Higher Education Institutions in the Age of Digital Transformation".

The conference came out with several recommendations, the first of which is the need to strengthen cooperation between regional and international organizations to enhance the quality and standardization of digital assessment methods in education, while encouraging continuous professional development to ensure that teachers are well equipped to adopt digital assessment methods and to raise awareness regarding the balance between the benefits of assessment based on artificial intelligence and the importance of Human participation in student assessment.

The conference also recommended the importance of highlighting the importance of data privacy and security in digital evaluation, sharing strategies for protecting digital evaluation, especially in evaluation tools based on artificial intelligence, and developing strategies, policies and procedures to deal seriously and resolutely with potential ethical abuses in digital evaluation, especially in evaluation tools based on artificial intelligence.
