The visit of the Portuguese delegation to the Faculty of Medicine and the Research Center of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University (MASRI)

The visit of the Portuguese delegation to the Faculty of Medicine comes on the second day of the delegation in Cairo. The visit to the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University and the MASRI Research Center was the second visit of the day after the visit to the National Cancer Institute.

         
   
         

The visit began with a number of presentations, the first of which was a presentation by Prof. Tamer Emara, Director of International Relations at the Faculty of Medicine, explained the history of the faculty and the development that took place from its inception to the present moment.

         
     
         

Prof. Hesham Al-Ghazali, Director of the MASRI Center, presented a presentation on the distinguished departments of the research center.

He also made a comprehensive tour with the Portuguese delegation in the units of the research center, during which he clarified the mechanism of the center's work and equipped it with the latest devices used in genetic examination and clinical research, and reviewed the NGS devices in the genome unit, including a device that is the only one of its kind in Egypt that can examine more than 500 genes. It is one of the most modern devices used in genetic testing, as well as modern devices and equipment available in the genome unit.

In the presence of Prof. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hala Suwaid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Ahmed Morsi, Director of Women's Health, and with the participation of the Portuguese Dr. Fausto Carvalho, Chief Financial Officer, iMM Research Center, Dr. Cristina Abreu Dosantos, Director of the National Institutes of Health, INSA, Dr. Maria Carmo, Medical Director via Zoom from the iMM Research Center.

Online through the Zoom program, they met Dr. Maria Karmo, and the discussion took place about participating in the genetic screening and cancer prevention project.

It was an honorable visit befitting an Egyptian facade, expressing the Egyptian keenness on development and the happiness of its employees, their competence and their high and international qualifications.

The Portuguese delegation expressed its admiration and fascination with the speed with which the center was established, equipped and operated with this advanced mechanism.
