Activities of the “Know Your Country” competition at the Students’ Union of the Faculty of Arts

The “Know Your Country” competition was launched at the Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University, which was organized by the Youth Welfare Department and the Student Union, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, supervised by Suha Al-Saba, Director of the Youth Welfare Department, and coordinated by Ms. Intisar Muhammad, Head of the Social Committee of the Department.

         
   
         

Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, confirmed that the competition aims to stimulate domestic tourism and measure the ability of students to search and read from all informational sources, while the administration, in cooperation with the Student Union, provides free workshops and training courses to motivate students to be creative and work on developing their abilities in all fields.

The idea of the competition is based on the student choosing one of the governorates of Egypt and collecting and presenting information about it related to the most important tourist and archaeological sites in it, as well as the crafts, industries, customs, and traditions that it is famous for, and its geographical nature.

         
   
         

The Dean of the Faculty indicated that the contestants are evaluated by monitoring points of distinction in items: presentation and explanation skills, the quality of the scientific material, the ability to communicate information and persuasion, body language, and good appearance.

The jury consisted of each of Dr. Ahmed Salah, a teacher in the Hebrew Language Department, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid, a teacher in the Arabic Language Department.

The competition was organized by the Faculty Student Union, headed by student Helmy Ahmed, his deputy, student Walaa Tayseer, student Ali Ezzat, Secretary of the Social Committee, and Assistant Secretary Asmaa Bayoumi.
