The delegation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development hosted by Ain Shams University

Received this morning Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Affairs and Environmental Development, received a delegation of experts to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to review higher education policies, which aims to develop higher education policies through the organization's comprehensive review of the higher education system and policies in Egypt and to submit a report with recommendations to strengthen higher education policies and link curricula education with the requirements of the labor market.

In the presence of Prof. Mona Abdel-Aal Al-Zahri, Executive Director of the Education Development Department, Prof. Reham Al-Atifi, Assistant Secretary General of the Education Sector, and Students from Ain Shams University, Ms. Hoover Andrea, Ms. Abi Raad Lynn, Ms. Niri Sioufan from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

This comes within the framework of activating the country program for Egypt with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, for which a memorandum of understanding was signed by the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development as the national coordinator of the program at the organization’s headquarters in Paris in October 2021.

Prof. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, welcomed the delegation, presenting a short summary of the history of the ancient Zaffran Palace, which was documented in the book “Zaffran Palace”, which was printed in the university press, which was developed and converted into an environmentally friendly press with interest in reducing the use of papers.

This is in addition to the stages of restoration that he went through, in addition to the Zaffran Palace Museum, which was opened a few days ago in the palace and includes important artifacts from different historical eras, and it was inaugurated by the Ministers of Tourism and Antiquities.

His Excellency touched on the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the IHub, as a strategy to be a source of new and innovative ideas, innovations, and startups, in addition to addressing the ASU Career Center and the success achieved by Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

His Excellency touched on the university's efforts to transform the new campus of the university into an environmentally friendly campus and reduce the use of papers and recycle them.

His Excellency addressed the presence of Ain Shams University in more than one international evaluation and its obtaining a five-star rating in the QS classification, and that the aim of Ain Shams University is not only to be present in international rankings, but rather we aim to be among the best 100 universities in the world.

His Excellency also appreciated the importance of the visit, referring to the desire of Ain Shams University to learn about the evaluation of international organizations and institutions and the presence of another look at the university's activities to achieve maximum benefit for faculty staff and students and for the university to be able to reschedule its own agenda and that it is our pleasure to cooperate between the university and the Cooperation Organization Economic and development.

His Excellency talked about private universities and Ain Shams Private University in the Administrative Capital, and how it will be a major shift in the educational field, which will focus on linking the different disciplines with each other, and that there are joint researches between the faculties of Medicine, Nursing, Dental, Engineering, Computers, and Information Science to follow up on everything new and qualify students for the labor market.

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Affairs and Environmental Development, welcomed the delegation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, stressing the interest of Ain Shams University in applying and employing technology in all aspects of the university and adopting artificial intelligence and that the university competes on an international and international level, especially in the presence of quite a few students, and this is the challenge In the field of postgraduate studies, preparations are being made to establish a technological department that includes various types of research in a specific discipline, for example, nanotechnology.

Mrs. Hoover Andrea expressed her happiness at visiting an ancient and distinguished university such as Ain Shams University, and thanked Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud for the welcome, adding that she was proud to be a representative of the organization on this visit, hoping that it would be a fruitful visit and benefit from the experience of Ain Shams University.

She also congratulated His Excellency Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, on the inauguration of the Zaffran Palace Museum.

While Mrs. Abby Raad Leen praised the valuable information that was mentioned by Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud for this ancient university and the archaeological palace.

She also gave an overview of the history of the organization, its role, the different paths of the education strategy, and the link between course content and the labor market.
