Coinciding with the start of the application of the new law of real estate registration No. 9 of the year 2022, the Center for Legal and Economic Studies at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University organized a symposium on "What's New in Real Estate Registration and Documentation Laws" as the beginning of a series of seminars that aim to introduce new legislation in various fields.
Prof. Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty, opened the symposium, welcoming the attendees, and extending sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Jamal Yaqout, Head of the Real Estate Registration and Documentation Department, for the attendance of His Excellency and his accompanying delegation to the Faculty of Law to shed light on this issue that concerns all members of society, which needs further explanation and clarification, especially after the issuance of the new Real Estate Registration Law No. 9 of 2022 AD.
The Dean of the Faculty thanked Dr. Sally Samir Abdel-Massih, Director of the Center, for her efforts in organizing such seminars that enhance the applied aspect of legal studies, and Ms. Counselor Suha El-Saadani for helping to organize the symposium.
Then Dr. Gamal Yaqout, Head of the Real Estate Notary and Documentation Authority Sector, moderated the session in which Dr. Ali Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Dr. Ahmed El Sayed Abdel Hamid Ibrahim, member of the Technical Office of the Sector, and Prof. Ezzat Salama, Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty, spoke. The session focused on clarifying new issues in the real estate notarization and documentation laws, the difference between the real estate notarization system and the real estate registry, registration obstacles, challenges facing the implementation of the new law, and some proposals to overcome them. Then, the session was followed by an extensive discussion between the lecturers and attendees.
The symposium was attended by Prof. Mohamed El-Shafei, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Hossam El-Ahwany, Professor of Civil Law and former Dean of the Faculty, a number of faculty staff and their assistants in the faculty, and a group of researchers, the interested, and students.
