Next Tuesday... the Faculty of Law organizes an international scientific symposium on "Developing Legal Education in the Arab World"

In partnership with the office of the Francophone University Agency in the Middle East, the Faculty of Law, at Ain Shams University, in partnership with the Francophone University Agency for the Middle East, will organize on May 2, 2023, an international symposium on "Developing Legal Education in the Arab World: Legal Clinics as a Model", in the hall of Prof. Reda Al-Sayed Abdel Hamid conferences at the faculty headquarters.

Representatives from twenty law faculties from five Arab countries are participating in the symposium: Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Iraq.

Prof. Mohamed Safi, Dean of the Faculty, explained that this unique academic event comes in light of the cooperation agreement signed by the Faculty of Law with the Francophone University Agency last year, within the framework of the project to establish a network of legal clinics in Arab law faculties in cooperation with French law faculties.

Prof. El-Sayed Abdel-Khalek, Professor at the Faculty of Law and former President of Mansoura University, Rapporteur of the Law Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, Former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohamed Anas Jaafar, Professor at Beni Suef University, and Legal Adviser to the Council. the Supreme Council of Universities, the former governor of Beni Suef, Prof. Mohamed Sameh Amr, Dean of the Faculty of Law, at Cairo University, and Prof. Hassan Abdel Hamid, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the British University in Egypt; Prof. Muhammad Al-Qaisi, Dean of the Faculty of Law, at Birzeit University, Palestine; Prof. Ali Hadi Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Law, at the University of Baghdad, Iraq; Prof. Miri Obeid, Dean of the Faculty of Law, at the University of Babylon, Iraq; Prof. Ahmed Sweiti, Dean of the Faculty of Law, at Hebron University, Palestine; Prof. Pierre El Khoury, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, at Sagesse University, Lebanon; Prof. Suhail Haddadin, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, at the University of Jordan, Jordan; Prof. Ludovic Payet, Director of the Legal Clinic, at the University of Lyon 3, France; and Prof. Stéphane Brena, Director of the Institute of Business Law at the University of Paris, at Cairo University Branch, are participating in the symposium.

The symposium will be followed by a two-day workshop at the Faculty of Law, on the third and fourth of May, on the work of legal clinics and ways to link legal education to practice.

Representatives of the universities participating in the project will participate in the workshop, and the work of the workshop will be coordinated during the two days by Ms. Mireille El Rayes, Director of Projects at the Francophone University Agency, and Dr. Ahmed Fathi Khalifa, Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Faculty.
