Children's University was hosted by the Faculty of Environmental Studies at Ain Shams University

Within the framework of the activities of the Children’s University at Ain Shams University, under the patronage of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of the University, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, and coordinated by Dr. Noha Al-Rafii, Deputy Director of Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Children’s University at Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, this morning, Monday, September 11, 2023, received delegations from the Children’s University, in the presence of Prof. Noha Donia, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Reham Refaat, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.

         
   
         

In her speech, Prof. Noha Donia welcomed the children and the Children’s University Coordinator and her team, praised their efforts with the children. The Dean of the Faculty called on the children to apply what they will study and see today and to be little ambassadors to protect their environment, explaining to them in a simplified manner environmental problems such as rising temperatures, global warming, and climate change, and they have a tangible and important role in the future in protecting their environment.

She explained to them the activities and workshops that they would witness throughout the day at the Faculty.

         
   
         

Dr. Noha Al-Rafi’i thanked the Faculty, headed by Prof. Noha Donia, for receiving the children and stressed the importance of children being aware of climate change and its effects because they are the youth of the future and who will be young ambassadors for preserving the environment. She praised the great role played by the Grants and Projects Department team in management, supervision, and ensuring safety of children, throughout the period of events in all faculties.

Prof. Reham Refaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Children, said that the Faculty of Environmental Studies is concerned with the environment and emphasized to them through a simple discussion the importance of the environment and its preservation, and explained to them the concept of environmental toys, which are considered one of the most important educational methods used by the teacher during the teaching and learning process because of their educational benefits and the ability to develop environmental conservation skills.

         
   
         

It also helped them discover wrong behaviors in some images that negatively affect their environment.

A bag containing environmental toys was also distributed to the children, and how to play with them was explained to them to achieve maximum benefit.

The day also witnessed a number of different activities and a group of workshops that dealt with several areas, including: "Carbon footprint" and "recycling", and Dr. Ahmed Maher, Manager of Shams Be Green project gave a lecture. Also, a workshop was held on energy, which was conducted by Dr. Hajar Nawar with the children.

Children were also trained on the green transformation unit, under the supervision of Dr. Hoda Hilal, Director of the Green Transition Unit, and Eng. Mustafa Kafafi, Eng. Kamal Ali.

At the end of the day, the children received certificates from the Little Climate Ambassadors, and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the faculty coordination team and to the Grants and Project Department team.
