In conclusion, the activities and events of the Children’s University at Ain Shams University, under the patronage of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of the University, under the supervision of Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, and Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Deputy Director of Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Children’s University at Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Mass Communication at Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Heba Shaheen, Acting Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dina Abu Zeid, Director of the ASU Media Center at Ain Shams University and Acting Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Salwa Suleiman, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, received a batch of 70 Children’s University students, in coordination with Dr. Abdulrahman Elsamni, a lecturer at the Faculty of Mass Communication and coordinator of the Children’s University at the faculty, Prof. Aya Abu Bakr and Prof. Hadir Mahdi, Assistant Lecturers at the faculty, with the participation of students and the faculty union.
Prof. Heba Shaheen expressed her happiness and pride in receiving a class from the Children’s University for the first time at the Faculty of Mass Communication, one year after the start of study at the faculty. She told the children the story of the dream that came true to transform the Department of Communication and Media Sciences at the Faculty of Arts into a Faculty of Mass Communication, 27 years after the establishment of the department, and what the faculty staff of the faculty put in mind and the great efforts and perseverance they made to achieve their goal of establishing the faculty, with great support from the university administration, which spared no effort in supporting the faculty with all the capabilities supporting the educational process.
In her speech, she also praised the tireless efforts exerted by Dr. Noha Al-Rafii and her prominent role in the Children’s University in cooperation with the Grants and Projects Department, good organization and management, dealing optimally with children, always caring for them and helping them to benefit from all visits to faculties in all scientific and practical specializations.
Also, Prof. Dina Abu Zeid spoke with the children about her practical experiences in the field of journalism and television for years, in addition to her academic work and currently holding the position of vice president of the college, advising the children of the necessity of setting a goal and a dream and trying to reach and achieve it to be media ambassadors at Ain Shams University and her desire to raise a generation of brilliant media professionals.
Prof. Salwa Suleiman welcomed the children and thanked the students for their attendance, commitment, and eagerness to learn and benefit in all fields, hoping that they would wait for them as students enrolled in the faculty.
The activities began with Dr. Abdulrahman Elsamni, lecturer in the Marketing Communications Department and director of the Faculty’s Information Technology Unit for children, who presented introductory videos about the departments of the Faculty of Mass Communication, the levels of study and the various specializations in the Faculty, as well as an explanation of the Faculty’s three departments, the News Journalism Department and the Media Production and Marketing Communications Department, with an explanation of what each department aims to achieve, pointing out the areas of work for graduates of the three departments so that each child can determine which department he would like to join in the future.
The activities continued with Prof. Hadeer Mahdi, Assistant Lecturer in the Marketing Communications Department, who presented a group of graduation projects for students in the Department of Communication and Media Sciences at the Faculty of Arts, which were supervised by professors at the Faculty of Mass Communication, and express the three specializations and departments of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and she discussed with the children what they liked about the graduation projects.
The events concluded with a training activity from Prof. Aya Abu Bakr, Assistant Lecturer in the Marketing Communications Department, who discussed the elements and components of the press release and supervised the children in writing a news story about their visit to the faculty as part of the activities of the Children’s University.
On the sidelines of the visit, children took a tour of the faculty to see the faculty’s activities, departments, and studios.
It is worth noting that these activities are a resumption of the sixth stage, whose activities began at the beginning of this August and extend until the end of September under the supervision of the University’s Grants and Projects Department team to implement all regulatory and supervisory measures to maintain the safety of children and accompany them throughout the period of activities in the various faculties, to work to overcome any difficulties faced by faculty coordinators, in addition to following up on all logistical and administrative operations for the Children’s University funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
