Under the patronage of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and under the supervision of Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Rasha Khafaji, Director of the University’s Quality and Accreditation Center, Dr. Howaida Abdel Hamid, Director of the Faculty’s Performance Evaluation and Quality Assurance Unit, Dr. Nisreen Amir, Deputy Director of the Unit, Prof. Sumaya Sabry, Head of the English Language Department, in the presence of Prof. Mustafa Riad, Professor of English Literature and Translation Studies at the Faculty, Prof. Sherine Mazloum, former vice dean of the faculty for postgraduate affairs and professor in the department, and Dr. Doaa Embabi, the academic coordinator of the program, the Faculty of Arts received a technical support visit from the Quality and Accreditation Center at Ain Shams University to evaluate the performance of the English Language and Literature program in the faculty.
The visit, which lasted 6 hours, began with a protocol meeting in the office of Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, which included a welcome to Prof. Auditor of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, Prof. Taher Al-Hadi, Professor of English Language at the Faculty of Education, at Suez Canal University and Dean of the Higher Institute of Languages in 6th of October, where he spoke explaining the mission and objectives of technical support, and quickly reviewed the visit schedule, which included inspecting the base room and the documents, evidence and present therein. It also included inspecting some of the units supporting the program, attending some lectures, and conducting interviews with faculty staff, teaching assistants, students, graduates, and employers.
The visit also included a tour of the classrooms, lecture halls, the public library, the department library, the measurement and evaluation unit, the question bank laboratory, and the language laboratory to learn about the available resources and evaluate their quality.
At the end of the visit, Prof. Taher Al-Hadi, met with the program coordinator, standards coordinators, and the director of the quality unit, gave oral feedback on the visit, appreciating the effort expended in preparing the self-study and the required documents related to program accreditation standards (11 standards).
