Within the framework of Mr. President’s directives to develop and completely replan the Ain Shams University Hospitals area, and establish the Ain Shams University Medical City, which will serve thousands of patients.
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, inspected the completion of the construction work of the International Medical City in the heart of Cairo at Ain Shams University to review the completed work and develop a plan for completion and delivery of the project.
They were accompanied on the tour by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Tariq Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Yasser Megahed, Director of the Engineering Consultation Center, and the consultants of the Ain Shams Medical City Project.
Prof. Hazem El-Dali, engineering advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, Prof. Raghda Talal, Director of the Emergency Hospital, Prof. Hossam El-Barmbly, Professor of Lighting and Maintenance at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University and Military Works Consultant, and Prof. Gamal Hussein, Consultant. Engineering works at the Engineering Consultation Office, Prof. Mohamed Salehin, architectural works consultant at the Engineering Consultation Center, Major Mohamed Salah, and Captain Mahmoud Tariq Othman from military works, participated in the tour.
During the visit, Prof. Ghada Farouk stressed the need to intensify work and speed up the completion of this large and important national project, which is of interest to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. She called for the rapid submission of the final designs for the project for approval and to set a date for delivery.
As directed by Prof. Ali Al-Anwar stressed the need to unify the name Al-Demerdash on all hospitals, as well as paying attention to the facades, designing them in an optimal way, and unifying the color, especially in the backgrounds and sides, in all directions, to improve the aesthetic appearance of the hospital.
It is necessary to inventory the rest of the work and present it to agree on the furnishings to be implemented in order to obtain approvals. It is also necessary to provide cranes that are used for periodic maintenance of buildings and facilities.
The visit included a tour of the site of the new Children's Surgical and Oncology Hospital, in which the first and second floors of a total of seven floors have been completed. Prof. Jamal Hussein indicated that the fence surrounding the hospital is temporary and that the wells will be demolished and precautionary measures will be taken.
Also, a visit to the construction site of the main blood bank and the park surrounding the Arab Al-Mohammadi Library, in addition to a tour of the new emergency hospital building designed with the latest advanced medical equipment and being completed, which is a great integrated medical edifice for surgery, especially orthopedic and internal surgery. The tour included 2 operating theaters and 3 integrated care unit floors, including a total of 120 beds, in addition to an academic theater, lecture halls, and 60 medical clinics serving all specialties.
The development and restoration of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has been completed, and the Ain Shams University Virtual Hospital has been established, to provide integrated training programs for doctors and specialized therapeutic services for patients from different countries, making the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University a distinguished regional center.
The general site has also been developed and the external wall surrounding the medical city, the Faculty of Medicine, and the multi-storey garage has been constructed. Work is underway on it, and the hospitals’ logo will be placed on the wall, in addition to constructing a 4-meter-long walker next to the wall.
The development of the main blood bank, the collected endoscopy center, the psychiatric center, outpatient clinics, and the hospital training center are being completed, and an oncology hospital is being established.
It is worth noting that the Medical City of Ain Shams University includes 11 projects, the most prominent of which is the fences and gates project to prevent overcrowding, Al-Waili Park, Arab Al-Mohammadi Park, the largest park, the Doctors’ Residence Park, and the Demerdash Park project.
The Medical City also includes Demerdash Hospital, Surgery Hospital, Internal Medicine Hospital, Children's Hospital, Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center, Clinical Toxicology Center, Cardiac Surgery Institute, Medical Research Center, Main Blood Bank, and the Faculty of Medicine.
The construction development works and improving human expertise aim to provide distinguished service to patients visiting hospitals with high quality and a distinct and contemporary medical level, and health care in line with quality and infection control guidelines, and to provide them with the latest medical devices and carry out the necessary maintenance for them, with constant attention to raising the human competencies of doctors, nurses and administrators.
