Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University

Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the issuance of the republican decree appointing Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen as President of Ain Shams University.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen assumed the position of Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry since 7/20/2017.

Also, Prof. Muhammad Diaa obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery in May 1988, then obtained a Master’s degree in Oral and Dental Surgery, Branch of Oral Surgery and Anesthesia in December 1996. He also obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry, Branch of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesia on 8/18/2002.

His Excellency assumed the duties of Chairman of the Council of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery from 3/31/2013 until 7/31/2014 at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University. Then he was appointed Chairman of the Council of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery from 8/1/2014 until 11/17/ 2014.

Prof. Muhammad Diaa assumed the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs at the Faculty of Dentistry from 11/18/2014 until 7/19/2017.

He also supervised the conservative treatment department for a year, starting from 1/25/2021, and Prof. Muhammad Diaa supervised many doctoral and master’s theses.

During his tenure as Dean of the Faculty, the Faculty of Dentistry witnessed a number of important openings, including the opening of 9 specialized clinics, in addition to operating rooms and others for recovery, an outpatient clinic to receive patients, and the Radiology Department clinic, which includes a “panorama” device and a CT scan used to perform x-rays of the face and jaws. In addition to the oral medicine and gum treatment clinic, and the prosthetic clinic for installing removable dentures, at a total cost of 15 million pounds.

The new internship clinic was also opened, which includes 25 machines attached to x-ray rooms and nursing rooms, to serve the faculty’s internship students, male and female, in addition to serving both male and female internship students within dental faculties in other universities.

In addition to the central sterilization unit, which is the first of its kind at the level of dental faculties in Egyptian universities, it was established in accordance with the most accurate and latest international standards and specifications. It includes two sinks with a capacity of 200 liters each, and a special air conditioning unit equipped with bacterial filters. The two-room sterilization unit operates The sterilization process for all tools used by students is completed within one hour, and the unit serves 2,500 students at various levels.

The faculty also received a certificate of accreditation and quality to become an accredited faculty.
