Ain Shams University is a member of the International Silk Road Alliance of Universities of Architecture and Technology

On Tuesday, November 21, Prof. Mohamed Dia Zein El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received a high-level Chinese delegation from the Shaanxi Provincial Government and the Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, where a ceremony was held to announce the membership of Ain Shams University in the International Silk Road Alliance of Universities of Architecture and Technology, which 45 universities from 32 countries participate.

The delegation included Prof. Zhang Xiaohui, President of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Prof. Jiang Cheng, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Yunying Ren, Professor of Architecture and Urban Planning and Dean of the Faculty of Public Administration, Prof. Ai Xiaolong, Dean of the Research Institute of Architecture, Urban Planning and Development of Archaeological Areas, Mr. Li Yunming, Director-General of the Office of the Central Limitation Commission of Shaanxi Province, and Mr. Wan Tong, Director of the Education Department of Shaanxi Province.

In the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Osama Al-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel-Al, Director of the Confucius Institute and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of International Students Department

During the meeting, aspects of cooperation between Ain Shams University and Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology were discussed in the research and academic fields and the exchange of students and professors.

In his speech, Prof. Mohamed Dia Zain El-Abedeen praised the richness of the Egyptian and Chinese civilizations, and that cooperation between the two sides has extended throughout modern history from the 1960s until this moment, stressing that the horizons of cooperation in the modern era will witness an expansion to include new fields.

He added that Ain Shams University has strong scientific and educational cooperation relations with the Chinese side through the agreements signed between the university and a number of Chinese universities, welcoming cooperation with Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.

For their part, the members of the delegation expressed their happiness at being present at Ain Shams University, which is one of the most prestigious Egyptian universities with multiple contributions to serving Egyptian society in all fields. On the other hand, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology is among the first 5% of Chinese universities in its field of specialization. We play a major role in urban development and building modern cities through architecture and technology there. We hope that this visit will contribute to achieving joint cooperation in various specializations for the benefit of the two countries. We extend an invitation to the President of Ain Shams University and professors to visit the university there to discuss more ways of cooperation.

Before the meeting, the delegation from the Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology visited the College of Engineering to learn about the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. Meetings were held with professors and students through field visits to the architecture building, terraces, workshops and laboratories. The delegation also made a field visit to the Luban workshop, which embodies scientific and technological cooperation between Egypt and China.

The delegation also visited the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Al-Alsun, where the Chinese guests learned about the recent developments witnessed by the Faculty of Al-Alsun in laboratories, classrooms, and electronic examination halls.
