Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, under the supervision of Prof. Hanan Muhammad Salem, Vice President of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, The Graduate Follow-up Unit at the Faculty of Arts organized a free workshop entitled Geomatics and the Labor Market. Which was presented by Dr. Muhammad Al-Rai Muhammad is a teacher in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems
The workshop aimed to present theoretical and applied frameworks for geomatics techniques and geographic information systems, which led to introducing students to the real-life applications of these techniques and emphasizing their importance.
The workshop also touched on career opportunities for those working in geomatics and geographic information systems, their job titles, and their position in the labor market.
In her intervention, Prof. Hanan Salem emphasized the importance of the workshop and her happiness with all attendees, which was commensurate with the importance of the topic and the competence and excellence of the lecturer, pointing out the need for students to benefit from the college’s workshops and conferences presented by distinguished academic cadres.
Prof. Iman Taha pointed out the importance of geomatics techniques in the areas of sustainable urban development. She also stressed the keenness of the Graduate Follow-up Unit to develop students’ capabilities and direct their activities towards the most popular trends in the labor market.
While the students expressed their happiness with the impact of the workshop on educational and research trends, they indicated their aspiration to hold more workshops that provide real value that affects their life path.
By organizing this workshop, the university in general and the College of Arts in particular aim to empower students and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for the labor market in the field of geomatics. This activity is one of the important elements in developing students’ abilities and making the most of their university education.
At the end of the workshop, the participants were given accredited certificates for their keenness to attend the workshop and to develop their skills in the field of geomatics.
Finally, the workshop touched on some practical models for geographical programming applications.
