The activities of the workshop on developing and stimulating scientific publishing at Ain Shams University

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Ola Lawrence, advisor to the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, opened a workshop on developing and stimulating scientific publishing in cooperation with the Knowledge Bank, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abedeen, President of the University, within the framework of the initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during National Science Day in 2014, where the specialized councils affiliated with the Presidency of the Republic began working to initiate many national projects concerned with developing education.

Present at the workshop: Prof. Mahmoud Dawoud, Director of Training and Marketing for the Knowledge Bank, Mr. Mohamed Salah, supervisor of periodicals for the Knowledge Bank, Mrs. Rabab Rashwan, publishing official, in the presence of Prof. Al-Gawhary Al-Saeed Attia, Coordinator of the International Publishing Reward Committee at Ain Shams University, Prof. Hind Asaad and Prof. Lamia Radwan, members of the university’s international publishing reward committee, a group of college deans and university faculty members, and editors of Ain Shams University’s journals.

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, stressed the importance of the Knowledge Bank for the researcher because it is considered a library archive through the Internet and provides access to educational resources and tools for teachers, researchers, and students. It is also considered the largest digital library in the world that provides unlimited resources, and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank grants all Egyptians All ages could access the greatest amount of knowledge and cultural and scientific content, whether basic or applied in the field of technology, humanities, and administrative sciences.

   
   
   

Prof. Ola Lawrence, Knowledge Bank Advisor, said that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank contains cultural books for the public and also includes books targeting children that are used through computers, smart cell phones and tablets throughout the country and provides the most advanced educational services around the world.

Through the fruitful and continuous cooperation between the management of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and Ain Shams University, the workshop’s topics came within the framework of supporting international publishing and scientific research through scientific journals and periodicals issued by the university, and clarifying the services provided by the Knowledge Bank to researchers and faculty members through the STDF agreement. ) between the Knowledge Bank and Springer Publishing House, in addition to clarifying the steps to apply for the agreement to bear the costs of publishing in about 2,400 journals affiliated with the same publishing house.

She referred to the number of Ain Shams University journals on the Knowledge Bank, which reached “69” journals, including “5” international classified journals between “Scopus” and “WOS” affiliated with Ain Shams University, such as the Faculty of Engineering Journal, which has achieved clear and noticeable progress internationally, and the Faculty Journal. Agriculture, which is considered the seventh largest in the world in its specialty, and three other journals in the medical sector.

In conclusion, the lecturers introduced one of the new platforms, “Scinito,” in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, which provides researchers with important sources of references and research in various specializations.
