Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abidin, President of Ain Shams University, chaired the meeting of the Council of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector at the university, in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the Sector, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun. , Prof. Reem Al-Kabariti, Director of the Alumni Association Department, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of International Students & Mobility Office, Prof. Tamer Al-Nadi, Director of the scholarship and Projects Department, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the International Classification Department.
During the meeting, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, presented a summary of the visit of the Korean ambassador to the faculty to discuss ways of cooperation with Ain Shams University. Department directors also presented the most important achievements of the sector’s departments over the past 4 years. Some points were also discussed to develop the departments’ performance.
Before the meeting, Professor Dr. Mohamed Diaa made an inspection tour of the sector, and His Excellency stressed that international relations are a fundamental pillar for enhancing the quality of education and scientific research at the university, stressing the vital role played by the international relations and academic cooperation sector at Ain Shams University in building bridges of scientific and cultural communication between University and other higher education institutions in different countries of the world.
He added that cooperation with external parties and establishing partnerships with prestigious universities helps Ain Shams University enhance its global position, contributes to attracting a group of distinguished researchers and students, and opens new horizons for students and academics to explore new ideas and methods.
It is noteworthy that the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector at the University was established in 2020 by a decision of Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, former President of Ain Shams University, in recognition of the university’s administration’s awareness of its growing role and position globally, and a desire to develop its international relations and academic cooperation with various internationally prestigious universities and research institutions, and to strive to attract more international students and visiting professors.
The sector is affiliated with five departments: (International Cooperation Department, Expatriates and Visiting Professors Department, Grants and Projects Department, Ain Shams University Alumni Association Department, and International Classification Department).
