The Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, organized a symposium entitled “Epilepsy... the new diagnosis and treatment”, under the patronage of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Prof. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environment Affairs, and the symposium received great interest from faculty staff, students and workers.
A group of professors specialized in neuroscience and psychiatry participated in the symposium: Prof. Yousry Abu Al-Naga Abdel Hamid, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, and Prof. Maha Ali Muhammad, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, and Dr. Aya Taha Muhammad Al-Sayed, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry.
The symposium included lectures and awareness presentations on the effects of epilepsy on patients, their families and society, and the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease were reviewed.
The symposium focused on how to identify epilepsy and the warning signs that must be monitored, in addition to the practical steps that can be taken to deal with it. Modern tools and techniques in diagnosing the disease and the latest developments in treatment processes were discussed, to improve the quality of health care for patients.
It is worth noting that the symposium is part of the efforts made by the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University to raise awareness and educate the public about important health issues, and to promote health awareness in society.
