The great writer and novelist Amr Al-Adly was hosted in an open dialogue at Ain Shams University

In an initiative that is the first of its kind, and within the framework of the 2023-2024 cultural season of the Middle East Research and Future Studies Center, in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts, organized today, Sunday, February 25, a new symposium from the “A Writer and a Book” seminar series.

This comes under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, and Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

The symposium was held at the Faculty of Arts under the patronage and presence of Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hatem Rabie Hassan, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and the symposium was moderated by Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, director of the center.

         
   
         

The symposium was started by Dr. Hatem Rabie, welcoming the guests and distinguished attendees, as His Excellency praised the educational and enlightening role played by the Middle East Research Center and what it contributes through the activities and events it holds that have a great impact in maximizing the effectiveness of the educational and educational role of Ain Shams University, and to shed more light on your great interest in raising the level of cultural, political and cognitive awareness among university youth,

The center has witnessed great development and a tangible boom at all levels and activities, not only political and economic, but also literary, since Dr. Hatem Al-Abd assumed the management of the center.

Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, who expressed his great happiness at holding this symposium in the prestigious Faculty of Arts, which he has always considered his second home, and his deep appreciation for the warm reception and the wealth of interest and unlimited support that the Faculty of Arts provides to the Middle East Research Center, as Dr. Al-Abd also expressed his great happiness at the Center’s reception today of the great writer and novelist Amr Al-Adly, who enriched the symposium and added more value and importance to it.

         
   
         

After that, the novelist Amr Al-Adly took the floor, who expressed his happiness for the center hosting him and for his presence at Ain Shams University, to which he belongs, especially the Faculty of Arts, where he prepared and discussed his master’s thesis, then His Excellency spoke about his project and literary journey, as well as his love for literature, which he considers the only field concerned with trying to understand man and express his inner self, his motives and goals, and what women represent in his writings from his own perspective. The great writer also touched on the art of the novel and the story and the difference between them, as well as the Egyptian pioneers of the novel. And the internationals and their notables such as Naguib Mahfouz, Youssef Idris, Marquez, and others, and the relationship between literature and drama, as well as the art of translation and its relationship to the original text, and other topics related to literature and literary and cultural life.

The great novelist also reviewed a group of his most important publications, the latest of which is “Maryam and Nermin,” and the literary awards he received throughout his artistic career, whether Egyptian or Arab. The center also singled out the name of his next literary work, which is “Dear Mr. Obama.”

At the end of the symposium, the discussion was opened for the attendees, and all their inquiries were answered by the great writer.

At the end of the symposium, Dr. Hatem Al-Abd presented certificates of honor to the Dean of the Faculty and the deputies in appreciation for their good hosting of the symposium. He also presented a certificate of appreciation to the great novelist Amr Al-Adly, for honoring the symposium and enriching it.
