The closing ceremony of the World Design Studio workshop

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, witnessed the closing ceremony of the World Design Studio workshop at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Ain Shams University, which was held under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and the support and sponsorship of Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, in the presence of Prof. Shao Jizhong, Vice Dean of the College of Landscape Planning at Huazhong Agricultural University of China and Head of the Chinese delegation participating in the World Design Studio Project, under the general supervision of Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for strategic planning, training and qualification for the labor market.

         
   
         

This came in the presence of Prof. Neven Assem, CEO of the University’s Innovation and Training Sector, and Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Executive Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The closing session was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Khaled, General Coordinator of the International Design Studio, in the presence of Dr. Wei Zhang and Dr. Ahmed Al-Iraqi, project supervisor, members of the supporting body, and Chinese and Egyptian students participating in the workshop.

The closing ceremony included the students’ presentation of the outcomes of the field visit to the selected sites for development in the Egyptian city of Aswan, which include the areas of West Sohail, Al-Kurur, and the International Park, which are intended to be developed within the state’s vision of the city of Aswan as the capital of African culture, economy, and youth.

The World Design Studio is considered the first tripartite international partnership in Egypt between the Egyptian Ain Shams University, the American Clemson University, and the Chinese Huagong Agricultural University, and it aims to provide development visions and proposals for national and international projects since 2007.

         
   
         

It is worth noting that the international design team had participated in the workshop organized by the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Egyptian Initiative for Scholarships and Educational Tourism “Study in Egypt” and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in partnership. With the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, Hochgang Agricultural University in China, and Clemstone University in the United States of America, with the participation of 30 male and female students from the WDS program at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Hochgang Agricultural University in China; To study some of the areas targeted for development (Gharb Suhail Village, Plant Island, Azab Karur, Aswan International Park, Nubian Village)
