The participation of the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at Ain Shams University in development convoys in Cairo Governorate and Giza Governorate

Ain Shams University’s participation came under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and coordinated by Prof. Jihan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Administrative Supervision Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General of the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector.

         
   
         

He participated in the development convoys (the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Archaeology), by providing free medicines in various medical specialties, dental clinic services, artistic workshops, holding competitions for children and offering them gifts, awareness campaigns, and workshops on crafts, handicrafts, and pressure and sugar measurements.

Prof. Alaa El-Din Abdel Halim Faraj, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, stated that the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector team at the Faculty of Education participated in a training workshop aimed at teaching women’s families diverse and simple handicraft skills, with the aim of providing a possible start for the idea of entrepreneurship in this field.

         
   
         

This workshop was characterized by an interactive atmosphere for families of all ages, as participants were able to develop their artistic skills and create simple and unique works of art using materials easily available at home. Gifts were distributed in appreciation of the outstanding performance of the participating women, in addition to community awareness work on some family problems and how to overcome them. In addition, the team organized cultural competitions directed at children with the aim of enhancing the positive spirit of competition and encouraging community participation. A variety of gifts were distributed to the children to give them joy and happiness and motivate them to participate positively in the activities provided.

         
   
         

These convoys came within the activities of the Alliance of Universities in the Greater Cairo Region (Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Helwan University, Banha University, Al-Azhar University) with the participation of the Decent Life Foundation, the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection of Breast Cancer, the National Center for Addiction and Drug Treatment, and Crest Company).
