Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the Council for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs held its meeting for the month of April 2024, headed by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, in the presence of the deans of graduate studies at the university’s faculties and the members of the council.
At the beginning of the session, the Vice President of the University congratulated Prof. Wael Samir on assuming the position of Vice President of the Faculty of Science for Graduate Studies and Research. She also congratulated the Council members on the occasion of the Spring, Sham El-Nessim, and the glorious Resurrection holidays.
The session began with the ratification of the work of the previous session and the minutes of the meeting of the Standing Committee for Postgraduate Studies and Research.
A number of decisions related to the educational and research system at the university and the graduate studies sector at the faculties were also discussed, in addition to a number of topics, including the necessity of continuing and directing support for the university’s international publishing and overcoming the obstacles that affect this. Because it has great importance, with the necessity of reviewing the various international publishing sites to find out the latest global developments, as it has an impact on the university’s international classification.
The Council also stressed the continuation of uploading research to the platform for green transformation and sustainable development research of the Supreme Council of Universities.
Some decisions were also presented related to the workflow of the university’s international student care system and work to identify the obstacles facing international students and develop policies and marketing mechanisms to attract international students. A committee was formed headed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa, President of the University, to present all developments to His Excellency and to develop and adopt a road map for this.
The proposal received from the Supreme Council of Universities regarding encouraging scientific publishing in universities as optional paths was also presented in a specific organizational manner for dissertations, noting the increase in the number of research papers that were uploaded to the platform specialized in international publishing and their reclassification in a consolidated manner.
The session also included a briefing on the follow-up of the decisions that had been implemented regarding the date of the university’s scientific conference scheduled to be held on May 30 and 31, 2024. Proposals and developments regarding the conference agenda were presented, which were sent to all university faculties to announce the conference at the faculty level in their departments for the participation of all relevant faculty staff, teaching assistants, researchers, and students interested in this matter, as well as granting honorary doctorates to prominent figures, a ceremony will be held on the sidelines of the conference to honor the faculty members who won international publication, numbering nearly 900 winners from the university’s faculty staff.
During the meeting, the situation regarding the development of the university’s and UMS’s websites was also reviewed, and a performance report from the central unit for developing postgraduate programs was presented.
The director of the University's Networks and Information Technology Center reviewed the periodic performance report of the Networks and Information Technology Center, which presented the possibility of creating virtual servers from the services provided by Microsoft to the university.
