The second day of the activities of the 12th Ain Shams University Scientific Conference, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, witnessed a session on partnerships in the fields of human sciences, in the presence of Prof. Hanan Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Comunication, Prof. Safaa Shehata, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education, moderated the session, and Prof. Mohamed Khattab, Head of the Psychology Department at the Faculty of Arts.
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, pointed out the importance of the humanities for building the human being, and pushing the wheel of development forward through the humanities in order to build a human being capable of achieving, progressing, striving, and achieving success in various sectors. Her Excellency hoped that the session would reach fruitful recommendations that would be included in the university’s plan to develop the humanities sector.
Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, referred to the partnerships and cooperation between the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, and many prestigious universities and faculties, including: The partnership with Khorfakkan University, which was established in 2022 in Sharjah, headed by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, and includes the College of Business Administration, the College of Arts, Science, and Information Technology and College of science, College of History, College of tourism guidance, and the College of Marine Sciences and Aquatic Biology.
In addition to the partnership with the Al Zayan Speech Center, which began in 2021, with the aim of developing the skills of students with abilities through training and development of their various abilities through courses and workshops.
Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, pointed to the partnerships and cooperation between the Faculty of Arts and Buraimi University College, which is one of the first private university colleges in the Sultanate of Oman and is based on several main academic axes: students, scientific research, community service, and includes the colleges of commerce, engineering, health sciences, and law.
Prof. Heba Shaheen, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, stressed the importance of multiple partnerships between various academic institutions to enhance knowledge and research exchange, stressing that Ain Shams University is not only looking for national, regional and international partnerships, but is looking for a distinguished partner. She also explained that the joint cooperation between the Faculty of Mass Communication and Al Buraimi University College relates to the academic connection around the advertising program, in connection with the needs of the labor market.
Prof. Yasser Fouad, Dean of Buraimi University College, reviewed the areas of cooperation in accordance with the academic affiliation agreement, including: designing academic programs, periodic monitoring of the quality of academic programs, granting and accrediting academic degrees, seeking assistance from academic expertise at Ain Shams University according to contracting and employment procedures in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to cooperation in the field of quality education and scientific research, contributing to the college’s efforts in the institutional and program accreditation process and evaluating examinations and teaching methods.
Prof. Safaa Shehata, Dean of the Faculty of Education, expressed her desire for the Faculty of Education to cooperate with Al Buraimi University College to provide an opportunity for future cooperation for the College of Education’s specializations.
Her Excellency referred to the distinctive experience of the Faculty’s Center for Educational Excellence in partnership with UNICEF as a constructive and fruitful model for interaction and integration with national and international institutions.
Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Mahrous, Education Officer at UNICEF in Egypt, presented a project for training and qualifying refugee school teachers for electronic teaching (hybrid education) July - August 2022, a technical support project to compensate for educational loss for primary education students following the Corona pandemic, and an educational rehabilitation project for refugee school teachers in the Arab Republic of Egypt, August - November 2023.
Mr. Ahmed Saeed, Director of the Center for Educational Excellence, pointed to a group of ongoing partnerships with UNICEF, the existence of a special project for comprehensive integration, the integration of people with special needs, and the integration of children in emergencies and wars, such as: Palestinian and Sudanese children.
The goals that partnerships between Ain Shams University and regional and international universities seek to achieve were also reviewed, including: providing distinguished service to students, developing scientific research skills and academic excellence, exchanging good practices applied in research, teaching, and community service, and establishing foundations to enhance standard comparisons for both parties to monitor developments in academic performance in relevant fields, and building and strengthening effective mechanisms for cooperation in areas of common scientific and cultural interest.
