Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the inclusion of 15 Egyptian universities in the QS global classification according to its latest edition for the year 2025, which included the ranking of 1,500 universities from various universities in the world.

The Minister pointed out that the great support given by the political leadership to the higher education system over the past ten years was an impetus for achieving remarkable progress in international classifications, considering the scientific research policies pursued by the Ministry in line with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.

According to the results of the classification, Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, came in third place locally after Cairo University and the American University, ranking 592 globally, advancing 133 places from the previous edition.

It is noteworthy that the QS global ranking is based on four factors: academic reputation (30%), alumni reputation (15%), the ratio of faculty members to students (10%), the volume of research citations for faculty staff (20%), and (5%) foreign faculty staff, foreign students (5%), and the network of published research among researchers belonging to more than one country this year. This classification also improved the evaluation methodology by introducing three new measures: sustainability (5%), and the employment results of university graduates. (5%), and the International Research Network (5%).
