Ain Shams University achieved first place locally, seventh in Africa, and 201st globally in THE impact ranking, which classifies the performance of world universities in achieving sustainable development goals, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research.

The results of Ain Shams University came as a result of coordination between the international classification team under the management of Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the International Classification Department, and the Center of Excellence for Sustainability, managed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Director of the Center of Excellence for Sustainability, in cooperation with all sectors and departments of the university, to display the achievements of Ain Shams University in serving the various seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The university was able to achieve a ranking in all seventeen sustainable development goals, which are:

SDG 1 – no poverty

SDG 2 – zero hunger (eliminating hunger permanently)

SDG 3 – good health and well-being

SDG 4 – quality education

SDG 5 – gender equality

SDG 6 – clean water and sanitation

SDG 7 – affordable and clean energy

SDG 8 – decent work and economic growth

SDG 9 – industry, innovation and infrastructure

SDG 10 – reduced inequalities

SDG 11 – sustainable cities and communities (Sustainable cities and communities)

SDG 12 – responsible consumption and production (moderate consumption and production)

SDG 13 – climate action (keeping pace with climate change)

SDG 14 – life below water (Supporting the aquatic ecosystem)

SDG 15 – life on land (university research on life on land and supporting land ecosystems)

SDG 16 – peace, justice and strong institutions

SDG 17 – partnerships for the goals (How universities support international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals)
