The activities of the 19th regular conference on psychiatry, the 7th on child and adolescent psychiatry, the 4th on addiction and dual diagnosis, and the 1st regional conference on women’s mental health in the Middle East and North Africa were launched, entitled “Challenges and Opportunities in Mental Disorders,” which will continue for three days.

Prof. Ahmed Okasha presented at the conference scientific development in the field of psychiatry, especially discussed the mental illnesses that do not respond to treatment.
He mentioned in his speech that mental illnesses that do not respond to treatment represent a burden on society as a result of delays in diagnosis, which leads to delays in proper treatment and mental illness becomes a chronic disease, which makes it a burden on the state and an increase in patient expenses.
The conference included several sessions that began with a number of workshops, including an overview of substance misuse disorders: different treatment methods, including pharmacotherapy as one of the methods of treating substance misuse disorders and the use of motivational therapy in treating substance misuse disorders.
In addition to a number of meetings, including psychological interviews and interview procedures techniques in Arab society.
The child psychiatry sessions covered several topics, the most important of which were self-harm, emotional dysfunction in children and adolescents, and recent developments in autism spectrum disorders.
The general psychiatry sessions also provided workshops on adolescent substance use, with a focus on smoking e-cigarettes, in addition to revealing the limits of mood disorders.
In general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, workshops addressed work-life balance...new horizons in tele psychiatry and psychological services provided by artificial intelligence, and lectures on the psychiatric intermediate care unit towards better psychological services, the international community for drug abuse prevention and training. On treatment.
The second day of the conference began with an opening lecture entitled “Resistance to Treatment in Mental Disorders,” then a symposium on progress in the main areas of women’s mental health.
Prof. Mustafa Shaheen, Professor of Psychiatry at Cairo University, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Psychiatrists, Prof. Mumtaz Abdel Wahab, Professor of Psychiatry and President of the Egyptian Society of Psychiatry, and Prof. Thomas Schulze, President-elect of the World Psychiatric Association participated in the meeting.
