The President of Ain Shams University receives a delegation from the International Labor Organization

Sponsored by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the International Labor Organization office in Cairo, Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Deidre Hughes, International Advisor for Capacity Building and Policy Regulation in the United Kingdom, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education for strategic planning, training and qualification for the labor market, and Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector at Ain Shams University, and Dr. Neven Assem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector, and Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Executive Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Employment Center.

Prof Mohamed Dia said that the meeting aims to discuss ways of cooperation in the field of employment and qualification for the labor market, and represents an important step to enhance joint cooperation with the International Labor Organization, which plays a vital role in supporting employment and enhancing the capabilities of the workforce, noting that the university’s role is not limited only to providing academic knowledge, rather, it extends to qualifying and training students for the labor market, and preparing them to be future leaders.

         
   
         

The University President expressed his aspiration to build a fruitful and long-term strategic relationship with the Labor Organization that contributes to achieving common goals in sustainable development and economic and social growth.

Following the meeting, the university president accompanied the delegation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the International Labor Organization office, and iCareer, on a tour during which they inspected the innovation and entrepreneurship center building at the university.

A round table was held on career guidance, the “Higher Education for Career Guidance for Employment” program, and the Be Ready initiative, which is implemented by the International Labor Organization within Egyptian universities, with support from British Aid, with the aim of providing students with skills and capabilities for the labor market.

         
   
         

Dr. Ayman Farid said that the “Be Ready” initiative is one of the executive steps on the path to activating the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030 in the field of training and connection to the labor market. The initiative aims to build cadres of university students and graduates capable of competing in the labor market.

For its part, the delegation praised the university’s future vision towards enhancing students’ skills and preparing them for the requirements of the labor market. To produce a generation capable of facing the challenges of the future.

The delegation also praised the innovative projects and programs implemented by the university, which reflect its commitment to continuous modernization and development, as well as contributing significantly to strengthening the university’s position as a leading center in education and scientific research at the regional and international levels.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation visited the Zafaran Museum, during which they took souvenir photos documenting the visit.
