The President of Ain Shams University receives Ms. Lin Xin, Vice Minister of State for Science and Technology of China

In implementation of the common vision and directives of the political leadership between the two countries and within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership relations between Egypt and China and the emphasis on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of science and technology, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received a high-level delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology headed by Professor Lin Xin, Deputy Minister, to discuss the future of cooperation with Ain Shams University within the framework of China's keenness to strengthen cooperation relations between the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egyptian research centers and universities in the field of advanced technology, especially renewable energy technology, artificial intelligence and high technology, in a way that benefits society and achieves economic and social development.

   
   

During the meeting, he welcomed the visiting delegation, looking forward to expanding the areas of cooperation between the two universities in the fields of artificial intelligence, pharmaceutical technology, and nanotechnology, which has become a common factor in many areas of scientific research in medical, engineering, communications, and agricultural technology specialties, pointing out that Ain Shams University has established a Nanotechnology Research Center in the Faculty of Science, stressing Ain Shams University's desire to quickly activate and implement cooperation projects in a way that achieves the common vision between the two sides, activates cooperation, and puts it into effect.

Professor Lin Xin, head of the delegation, indicated that the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology is keen to support cooperation with Egypt through the Academy of Scientific Research and joint research projects, establish joint laboratories and research centers between the two sides, and expand the horizons of cooperation with Egyptian universities.

She pointed out that her visit to Egypt included the Ministry of Higher Education, the Academy of Scientific Research, the Space Studies and Research Center, and Ain Shams University, stressing her confidence in Ain Shams University, which possesses enormous capabilities in scientific and technological human resources in the natural sciences, life sciences, and advanced technology. She stressed the Ministry of Science and Technology’s keenness to invite researchers, professors, and master’s and doctoral students from Ain Shams University to cooperate in implementing joint research that can be presented to help industrial institutions in a way that benefits society.

   
   

The delegation visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Science, accompanied by Prof. Mohamed Ragaa, Dean of the Faculty of Science, the vice deans and faculty staff. A dialogue was held with professors and researchers and the most important laboratories available at Ain Shams University, especially the Nanotechnology Research Center. Communication channels were requested between researchers, professors and research teams from both sides to implement joint research and exchange visits and experiences. At the end of the visit, the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology invited Prof. Mohamed Diaa to attend the International Conference on Science and Technology to be held in the Chinese city of Chengdu next November.

The meeting was attended from the Egyptian side by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector at the University, Prof. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Technical Education and Training and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Mohamed Ragaa, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Nevin Assem, Executive Director of the Innovation and Training Sector at the University, and Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Languages ​​and Director of the Confucius Institute.

From the Chinese side, Mr. Sun Jian, Head of the Ministry's International Relations Sector, Mr. Xiao Wei, Deputy Head of the Ministry's International Relations Sector, Ms. Zhang Dongqing, Secretary-General of the Minister's Office, Mr. Zhang Huasheng, Scientific and Technological Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, Mr. Yuan Chun, Second Secretary of the Embassy's Scientific Office, and Ms. Jill Feng, Third Secretary of the Embassy's Scientific Office, attended.
