The National Center for Translation, affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, announced its awards for its third session 2024-2025 as follows:
First: Jaber Asfour Award for Translation in the field of literature and critical studies
It is an award given to distinguished translated works in the following fields: (novel, poetry, short story, theatrical texts, autobiography, travel literature, studies on translation, critical studies.) and the winner is awarded a financial reward of fifty thousand pounds, a commemorative shield, and a certificate of appreciation.
Second: Gamal Hamdan Award for Translation in the field of humanities and social sciences
It is an award given to distinguished translated works in the following fields: (philosophy, psychology, sociology, economics, political science, history, geography, archaeology, business administration.) and the winner is awarded a financial reward of fifty thousand pounds, a commemorative shield, and a certificate of appreciation.
Third: Samira Moussa Award for Translation in the field of scientific culture and simplification of science
It is an award given to distinguished translated works in the following fields: (scientific culture and simplification of science, philosophy of science, history of science, technology.) and the winner is awarded a financial reward of fifty thousand pounds, a commemorative shield, and a certificate of appreciation.
Fourth: Youth Translation Award
It is an award given to distinguished translated works accomplished by young translators under the age of forty in various fields.
Fifth: Rifaa Al-Tahtawi Award for Translation for the entirety of works
It is an award given to one of the most prominent translators for his entire work in appreciation of his contribution to the transfer and translation of works that constituted a cognitive and cultural shift in the Arab library, his efforts in the field of translation, and his participation in establishing major cultural projects.
Required papers and documents:
1. Award participation form (can be obtained from the center's headquarters or requested via email).
2. A definition of the translated work in no more than a thousand words.
3. A recent brief CV and a copy of the national ID.
4. A copy of the approval of the entity that owns the rights to the translation.
5. Five originals of the translated work and three photocopies of the foreign work. (The center is not obligated to return the submitted works, whether the work wins the award or not).
Translations, along with the required papers and documents, are to be submitted to the Training and Awards Department by hand or by Egyptian mail.
