Ain Shams University organized a successful evacuation experiment for the old and new administrative building in coordination with the Civil Defense and Occupational Safety and Health Departments under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and in the presence of Colonel Hatem Saber, Director of the General Administration of University Security, and Mr. Adel Abdel Latif, Director of the Civil Defense Department.
The evacuation experiment comes in light of the increasing importance of safety for administrative staff and emergency preparedness in the university community, to assess readiness to deal with emergency situations, and to ensure the safety of members of the university community.
The experiment was carried out at exactly 11:00 am, with the participation of the administrators and employees. The evacuation process took about seven minutes, with an ambulance on full alert, and ensuring that there were no obstacles in the escape corridors and emergency stairs. The sirens were sounded in preparation for the complete evacuation of the two buildings, then the evacuation group entered their locations. Those present in the building were directed to the emergency stairs and warned not to rush, and they were directed to the safe places (assembly points) that were previously identified, and ensuring that the buildings were completely empty.
