The Faculty of Arts launches a course in psychological counseling for imams and preachers at the Ministry of Endowments

The training course organized by the Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments, entitled: "Psychological Counseling for Imams and Preachers", was launched on Tuesday morning, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs at the Faculty, and in the presence of Prof. Khaled Salah, Deputy Director of the Cairo Endowments Directorate.

In her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, stressed the university's welcome to cooperate with the Ministry of Endowments, noting that the training course comes within the framework of activating the existing protocol between the two parties.

   
   

She also called for proposing new areas of cooperation and seeking to implement them, in a way that achieves scientific and cultural integration between the university and various state institutions, with the aim of advancing the nation and strengthening its renaissance.

For her part, Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the preachers and imams, and expressed her happiness at the Faculty of Arts hosting the psychological counseling course, which is being lectured by a group of faculty professors in the field of sociology and psychology.

She added that this course lasts for three days and discusses many psychological and awareness aspects and guidelines that preachers and imams must follow in their dealings with the public to convey the correct image and sound information.

Prof. Hanan Salem, the Faculty's Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, praised the pioneering role of the Ministry of Endowments and its keenness to empower preachers and imams and qualify them to keep pace with the renewed societal changes.

For his part, Prof. Khaled Salah El-Din, the Undersecretary of the Cairo Endowments Directorate, expressed his happiness with the warm reception and hospitality from the officials of the Faculty of Arts.

   
   

He stressed the importance of this training course in raising the efficiency of imams and preachers, believing in the noble message they are carrying out, as they are role models for the youth. The Undersecretary of the Cairo Endowments Directorate praised the interest of imams and preachers in acquiring knowledge, adding that they must be familiar with various worldly sciences.

Prof. Manal Moharam, Head of the Arabic Language Department at the Faculty, introduced the speakers at the opening of the training course and delivered a welcoming speech to the imams, stating that this gathering aims to achieve the message of knowledge and that imams must be distinguished by sound language and upright thinking.

It is worth noting that the training course will last for three days and will cover important topics such as the psychological characteristics and traits of a successful preacher, methods of psychological preparation for the intending spouses, methods of dealing with stress, the most important techniques and methods of psychological counseling that the preacher should be familiar with in dealing with troubled cases and methods of communicating with the public in its different age groups.
