Ain Shams University wins the first place in the Shorouk Initiative during the Leaders Forum for Egyptian Universities in Sharm El-Sheikh

As part of the implementation of the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Building the Human," the Student Activities Sector and the Leadership Development Institute at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research organized the training program "The Beginning of Egyptian University Leaders." This was held under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairperson of the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction, in collaboration with the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction, affiliated with the Cabinet of Ministers, and in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, with the participation of 27 universities.

Ain Shams University, under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, won first place for the alliance of Ain Shams, Cairo, and Alexandria Universities at the Leaders Forum for Egyptian Universities in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Ain Shams University's participation was coordinated and overseen by the Education and Student Affairs Sector and the "Students for Egypt" family—through the Administration of Families and Student Unions and the General Administration for Youth Welfare. The university was represented by students Mohamed Mansour and Mariam Mostafa, who presented the program "Education and Employment Opportunities" in three phases over a 100-day timeline.

The program was held at the International Youth City in Sharm El-Sheikh from October 15, 2024, to October 19, 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Amr Othman, Director of the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction, Dr. Karim Hammam, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Activities and Director of the Leadership Development Institute, Dr. Ibrahim Askar, Director of Prevention Programs at the Fund, and Dr. Hossam El-Sherif, Deputy Director of the Leadership Development Institute.

The program aimed to build youth awareness and foster a spirit of loyalty and belonging through a variety of activities and practical workshops focused on combating addiction and behavioral deviations. Additionally, there were diverse brainstorming sessions led by students to develop new programs, along with recreational and cultural tours, emphasizing the role of youth in nation-building.

In his statement, the President of Ain Shams University expressed his pride in the university’s achievement of first place in the Shorouk Program initiative, highlighting that it reflects the collective efforts in enhancing the role of higher education in Egypt.

He added that this success could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of the Education and Student Affairs Sector and all the participants in the forum, who continually strive for excellence and creativity. This initiative, he noted, also underscores the university’s deep commitment to contributing to the development of Egyptian society by empowering young people and providing them with the necessary tools to become future leaders.

He also thanked the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and all organizing and participating entities for their efforts in organizing the forum, emphasizing that collaboration among Egyptian universities is key to achieving our shared goals of advancing education and scientific research.
