The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, at Ain Shams University, organized a symposium entitled “Liberating Sinai between War and Peace”, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. Major General Pilot Staff Hisham El-Halabi, Advisor to the Military Academy for Graduate Studies and Strategy, lectured during the symposium on the occasion of the fifty-first anniversary of the October victory.
The symposium was opened by Prof. Yomna Safwat, the Faculty’s vice dean for community service and environmental development affairs, who stressed that the glorious October victories are one of the most important occasions through which we review our honorable history and develop the national sense of students and instill the concept of patriotism in our students, noting that the passage of fifty-one years since the October victories and the succession of generations requires reminding the new generation of the heroism of their fathers and grandfathers and building the character of the hero within them so that the grandchildren can complete the glories of their predecessors and draw inspiration from the determination and fighting spirit in various fields until successes are achieved at various levels.
During his speech, Major General Pilot Staff Officer. Hisham Al-Halabi stressed that with the passage of fifty-one years since the glorious October victories, we will find on the Internet a lot of false information about the war that the Israeli side aims to plant in the minds of the new generations in an attempt to lessen the impact of their defeat at the hands of the great Egyptian army.
He raised a vital question: Why did Israel occupy in 1967? The Israeli strategic depth is very small, not more than 7 km, and from a military perspective it is a major obstacle. Militarily, if they fought internally, they would be defeated and the Israeli state would be destroyed. Therefore, they waged wars and occupied lands outside their lands. These are correct military theories. They implemented these ideas on June 5 and occupied the lands of four Arab countries, including Egypt. Therefore, they occupied the entire Sinai.
In conclusion, Prof. Yomna Safwat, the Faculty's vice dean for community service and environmental development affairs, presented Major General Hisham Al-Halabi with the college's shield in honor of his contributions on the day.
