Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the Graduate Studies and Research Sector held its November session today, Sunday, headed by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, in the presence of the deans of the faculties for graduate studies and research affairs, members of the council, and Mr. Mohamed El-Khatib, Assistant Secretary of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs.
At the beginning of the session, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, praised the efforts made in the sector, expressing her thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to achieving these achievements.
She also commended the efforts of the Technical Office for the sector's harvest that was presented to the Council.
During the session, the work of the previous session and the minutes of the meeting of the Standing Committee for Postgraduate Studies and Research were approved, and a number of letters received from the Supreme Council of Universities related to the educational and research system at the university and the Postgraduate Studies Sector were discussed.
The Council also discussed the development of academic oversight systems and the necessity of using programs to detect plagiarism and develop them in the Arabic language and how to confront some entities impersonating a scientific journal specialized in international publishing.
During the meeting, agreements and memoranda of understanding between the university and various community institutions were reviewed, such as the memorandum of understanding between the university and the Center for the Care of People with Special Needs at the College of Graduate Studies and Misr El Kheir Foundation, the partnership agreement between the university and the College of Housing in the Emirates, in addition to the memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Medicine at the university and Jersey State University, and the cooperation agreement between the university (Faculty of Girls) and the French Embassy in Egypt and the French Institute.
The university's position on international classifications and how to work to advance these classifications in various sciences were also presented.
During the session, a report was presented on the performance of the Central Unit for the Development of Graduate Studies Programs, which dealt with the measurement and evaluation of colleges and how to continue, follow up and support colleges to benefit from e-learning platforms in various colleges, in addition to a report by the Graduate Studies Sector at the Faculty of Medicine explaining the developments witnessed by the sector and the development of enrollment in the sector's programs and the number of degrees awarded during previous years. The Postgraduate Studies Audit Committee at the Faculty of Medicine, which began its work in 2018-2019 by following up on clinical and oral exams for the doctorate, aims to follow up and ensure the quality of the educational process in the postgraduate studies sector.
A monthly follow-up report on the performance of the University's Networks and Information Technology Center was also presented, which explains the most important updates made to the university's information network, and ways to access some services through the network.
