Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the university’s students with disabilities participated in the University Championship organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports from December 5th to 8th.
The competitions were held at the Youth City in Abu Qir and the Sports Education College courts in Alexandria, with more than 700 male and female students representing 24 universities. The event was overseen by Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs, under the General Administration of Student Affairs' Sports Activities Division.
The results were as follows: In weightlifting, student Youssef Ibrahim Mohamed (Wheelchair Disability) from the Faculty of Arts won first place and earned the gold medal in the 72 kg category. Student Mohamed Gamal Amin (Mobility Disability) from the Faculty of Law also secured first place, earning the gold medal in the 80-88 kg category.
In addition, student Aya Ahmed Zakaria (Wheelchair Disability) from the Faculty of Engineering took second place and earned the silver medal in the 41-55 kg category. Student Taqa Omar Ahmed (Short Stature) from the Faculty of Arts secured third place and won the bronze medal in the 79-86 kg category.
In athletics, student Salwa Ehab Fahmy from the Faculty of Law (Mobility Disability) in the wheelchair race won first place and the gold medal.
Meanwhile, student Abdullah Mohamed Ali (Short Stature) from the Faculty of Agriculture came third in the Shot Put event, earning the bronze medal.
In Goalball, the university won the second-place trophy and silver medals for students Said Hassan Said, Ahmed Nasser Abdel Alim, Badr Amr Talaat Mohamed, and Hamed Said Tamam Abdel Baset.
In total, the University of Ain Shams achieved 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals in the Championship for students with disabilities.
