Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, chaired the fourth session of the Education and Student Sector Council for the academic year 2024-2025, in the presence of the Vice Deans of Education and Students in the faculties and members of the council.
The President of the University began the session by welcoming the attendees and extending thanks and appreciation to the Vice Deans of the faculties and their assistants for their efforts in the quality and regularity of the educational process.
He also congratulated Prof. Walaa Mohamed Abdel-Ghani on assuming the position of Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and thanked Prof. Thanaa El-Nubi for her management of the work of the Deanship of the Faculty during the previous period. The minutes of the previous session held on 11/12/2024 were also approved.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen discussed taking measures and preparations for the second semester exams for the academic year 2024-2025, and addressed plans for preparing exam schedules and announcing them electronically and on paper in sufficient time.
He also stressed the need to adhere to taking into account the supplementary exams and the university's needs for final year students, with the need to make it possible to extract the students' academic record in order to review the statements and grades received from the faculties for external approval.
His Excellency stressed the need to carefully review student data before uploading it to the UMS system, and to ensure the readiness of the controls and the regularity of faculty staff and employees.
The university president directed the need to coordinate between the concerned colleges regarding electronic exams, and to take into account the holidays of Christian brothers when preparing exam schedules.
And to discuss facilitating procedures for students by facilitating the extraction of the academic record, and ensuring that final year students meet the graduation requirements, including military education and literacy.
His Excellency stressed the need to take organizational and health measures, including periodic maintenance of examination buildings and monitoring areas.
Also, announcing examination instructions through the official websites of the faculties, the readiness of medical centers and taking precautionary measures, in addition to coordinating with the central ambulance system to provide emergency services.
The council also discussed and approved some proposals related to the regulations of the Faculties of Computer and Information Sciences and Medicine, in addition to the recommendations of the committee on student petitions.
His Excellency recommended a final review of the graduates’ data and the names of the scholarships for the credit hour system and the semester system on the UMS system in preparation for implementing the system of proof certificates and for the graduates’ departments in the faculties to print secure certificates of appreciation to unify the university’s outputs.
It was also emphasized that the date for approving the results of students of one batch should be unified by the faculty council and the University President, without discrimination between Egyptian and International students, and in accordance with the legal and procedural rules followed, in addition to discussing developments in evaluation systems and conditions of examinations for people with disabilities.
Also, following the recommendations of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding not relying on the multiple-choice questions system (Bubble Sheet) as the sole method of evaluation at the level of specialized courses in Egyptian universities starting from the academic year 2024/2025, and directing to ensure the quality of the outcomes of the educational process, in a way that achieves equality between graduates with disabilities and others without leniency, in order to preserve the gains of graduation and the requirements of the labor market.
The university president concluded the session by emphasizing the importance of cooperation between all parties to ensure the success of the educational process and achieve the highest levels of efficiency and quality.
