A scientific symposium at the Faculty of Pharmacy discusses the integrity of scientific research: How do retractions reshape the future of scientific research?

As part of the efforts made to enhance scientific integrity and raise the standards of scientific research, the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Pharmacy organized its sixth awareness seminar during the cultural season of the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025 entitled "How retractions shape the future of scientific research integrity?"

This was under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty.

         
     
         
 

Prof. Ebtehal El-Demerdash, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Faculty, spoke about the phenomenon of withdrawing scientific research from journals after publishing it, and what are its reasons through what has been withdrawn from research over more than ten years, with a focus on Egypt's international and regional status.

In addition to analyzing all the factors that lead to the withdrawal of research, taking into account Egyptian institutions and universities in particular.

She also provided an explanation of how to avoid this phenomenon at the level of institutions and individuals.

The symposia are supervised by Prof. Rola Milad Labib, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, as the faculty seeks to establish a culture of responsible scientific research and support the academic process with more transparency and scientific integrity, so that science remains a shining beacon for a better future.
