Ain Shams University discusses ways of cooperation with China's Tsinghua University in the field of natural sciences and artificial intelligence applications

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, received a high-level delegation from Tsinghua University, ranked number one in China in the fields of natural sciences and artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, the programs and specializations at both universities were reviewed, particularly in the engineering and technological sectors, as well as in computer science, artificial intelligence, and educational technology.

The visiting Chinese delegation, led by Prof. Gang Peng, Vice President of Tsinghua University, introduced the available capabilities at Tsinghua University in the fields of scientific and technological research, especially in educational technology and the applications of artificial intelligence in education and community service sectors.

         
   
         

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, reviewed the scientific and technological programs at the university's faculties, particularly in the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Commerce, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Archaeology. He also highlighted the experience of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University in utilizing artificial intelligence applications for the diagnosis of cancer and other fields.

Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, expressed the university’s interest in fostering actual collaboration in the fields of student and faculty exchange and in implementing joint research projects that will benefit the economic and social development of Egypt.

Prof. Omar El-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, presented the scientific programs and specializations within the faculty, emphasizing the desire for collaboration with Tsinghua University’s faculties, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, mechatronics, artificial intelligence, mechanics, and other fields. He proposed the exchange of students, organizing workshops and courses through educational platforms and virtual laboratories, as well as executing joint research projects, supervising joint master's and doctoral theses, and discussing dual degree programs.

It is worth noting that Tsinghua University is ranked 25th in the QS World University Rankings for 2024 and 20th for 2025. The university currently offers 68 master's degree programs in first-level disciplines and 64 doctoral programs. Tsinghua University comprises a total of 32 faculties, 54 departments, and 12 academies.

The meeting was attended by several representatives from Ain Shams University, including Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute, Prof. Sherweit El-Ahmady, Director of the International Students Office, Prof. Esraa Abdel Sayed, Cultural Counselor at the Egyptian Cultural Office in China, Prof. Amr Shaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Kamal Obaid, Director of the International Relations Office.
