The Top 10 Anti-Diabetes Herbs"... An Educational Seminar at the Faculty of Pharmacy

Within the framework of the cultural season for the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025, the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Pharmacy, at Ain Shams University, organized the seventh symposium in a series of educational symposia, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty.

   
   

The symposium was delivered by Prof. Omaima Al-Dahshan, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty, under the title "Top 10 Anti-Diabetic Herbs", and highlighted the importance of medicinal plants in combating diabetes, as she reviewed a list of herbs and natural plants known for their ability to lower blood sugar levels, such as: fenugreek, ginger, turmeric, onions, cinnamon, aloe vera, basil, neem, moringa, and ginseng.

Dr. Omaima Al-Dahshan conducted a scientific study of the active compounds extracted from these plants, which proved their distinctive role in improving and regulating sugar levels.

Her Excellency also stressed the importance of integrating these plants into the daily lifestyle, alongside the use of medications, and following a balanced diet and exercise regimen to ensure better health for diabetics.

This symposium comes within the university's vision to achieve community education and raise awareness of the importance of alternative medicine and medicinal plants in the treatment of chronic diseases, which reflects Ain Shams University's commitment to providing everything that is useful and innovative to serve and develop society.
