Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Safaa Shahat, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education at Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Education launched the second edition of the GALLERY WALK event for the second consecutive year. The event featured the participation of 34 programs distributed across 309 student groups for the "Seminar 1" course, and was held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
The closing activities of Gallery Walk kicked off with a display of student works, under the leadership of Prof. Safaa Shahat, Dean of the Faculty of Education. The event was attended by the directors of the specialized units within the faculty, accompanied by Prof. Kareem Fathy and Dr. Abdel Rahman Nagy, coordinators of the "Seminar 1" course, as well as the heads of various departments and a large number of faculty staff.
This event is part of the presentation of fourth-year students' works within the "Seminar 1" course.
Prof. Safaa Shahat explained that the seminar aims to develop students' skills in analyzing study units derived from the Ministry of Education curricula. The analysis focuses on scientific accuracy, linguistic correctness, content presentation style, and studying the relationship between the content, educational objectives, and previous materials, whether within the same course or across other courses.
Throughout the semester, students work in groups to analyze the lessons included in the course. At the end, they design a new unit of study that is not included in the curriculum, utilizing the skills they have acquired during the semester. The study unit is presented in detail in PDF format, alongside a summary displayed as a poster during the Gallery Walk event, where students discuss their works with their peers and the course instructor.
She added that, for the first time, STEM program students participated in the Gallery Walk activities by presenting posters as part of the Capstone 7 course. The students' works included a wide variety of activities, such as designing educational games, creating video clips, portraying educational units through theatrical methods, and using artificial intelligence tools.
Committees from various departments were responsible for evaluating the students' posters. At the end of the event, Prof. Safaa Shahat, Dean of the Faculty of Education, honored the best poster in each category: humanities programs, scientific programs, and language programs.
She also recognized the faculty staff who supervised the winning works. During her tour, Prof. Safaa Shahat praised the students' progress and the quality of their output, highlighting the experience they gained through the "Seminar 1" course.
The students expressed their understanding of the course objectives and the importance of their work, reflecting on the scientific, skill-based, and personal benefits they gained, in addition to enhancing their teamwork skills.
