Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, participated in a high-level delegation headed by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The delegation included several university presidents and members of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, to inspect the Rafah border crossing. This visit was part of ensuring the readiness of the crossing to receive the wounded and injured from Gaza and to provide all forms of support to the brothers in Gaza, in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This follows Egypt's success, in cooperation with regional and international partners, in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Major General Dr. Khaled Megawer, Governor of North Sinai, received the Minister of Higher Education and his accompanying delegation. He praised the cooperation of all Egyptian state institutions in implementing the directives of the political leadership, which aim to provide all forms of support to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. He also highlighted the state's efforts across all its sectors in the development of North Sinai.
During the visit, the Minister confirmed the full readiness of university hospitals to receive the wounded and injured from the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health hospitals, to provide the highest levels of medical care. He explained that there are comprehensive preparations in place, including providing enough beds to accommodate the cases coming from Gaza, as well as equipping operating rooms and necessary medical equipment for surgeries. The Minister also emphasized the presence of experienced doctors and technicians in various medical specialties at the university hospitals, in addition to providing the necessary medications and medical supplies.
Dr. Ayman Ashour pointed out that the university hospitals are fully prepared to receive emergency cases around the clock, stressing that there are directives for hospital staff to provide the best medical care to patients and to work with maximum effort to ensure the highest level of service for the wounded and injured from the Gaza Strip.
