The Faculty of Agriculture, at Ain Shams University, organized a workshop on pesticides and Egyptian agricultural exports in cooperation with Kanza Group for Chemical Pesticides, under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and in the presence of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Walaa Abdel-Ghani El-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty, a group of former Ministers of Agriculture, former Deans of the Faculty, Head of the Agricultural Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, Head of the Agriculture Committee of the Senate, Head of the Agricultural Pesticides Committee, Directors of the Central Pesticide Laboratory and Pesticide Residue Laboratory, Directors of Research Centers at the Agricultural Research Center, Head of the Plant Protection Department, faculty staff of the department, heads of scientific departments, faculty staff, and students of the Faculty.
At the beginning of her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University, welcomed the attendees and congratulated Prof. Walaa Abdel Ghani on assuming the position of Dean. She also expressed her thanks and appreciation to Prof. Thanaa El-Nubi for her distinguished efforts during the period in which she assumed the duties of Dean of the Faculty.

She pointed out the vital role of agriculture and its impact on various aspects of life and changing its patterns. She also stressed the importance of the university’s role in enhancing cooperation with the private sector, which contributes to serving society and preserving the environment.
In his speech, Prof. Walaa Abdel-Ghani, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the attendees and thanked the President of the University and Prof. Ghada Farouk for their continuous support to the Faculty. He pointed out that the Faculty is full of scientific and political figures who have led the agricultural locomotive in Egypt in the past and current period. He also pointed out the political leadership’s interest in the agricultural sector, considering that Egypt’s strategic security begins with agricultural security.
The workshop addressed many important topics, including the current status of Egyptian agricultural exports, innovations in the field of pesticide formulation and manufacturing, shaping the future of agricultural crop exports, and the impact of pesticide use on Egyptian agricultural exports, vision and challenges.
She also discussed the role of the plant health system in supporting agricultural exports, agricultural exports and pest control system management, the role of the Central Pesticide Laboratory in achieving state supervision over the circulation of pesticides and Egyptian agricultural exports, as well as the Central Laboratory for Pesticide Residues and Heavy Elements in Food and supporting Egyptian agricultural exports and the maximum permissible limits of pesticide residues, an international standard to facilitate the movement of agricultural exports.
