Ain Shams University wins second place in Orange Egypt's Artificial Intelligence Hackathon

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Affairs and Environmental Development, and Prof. Amani Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, under the supervision of Prof. Nevin Assem, CEO of the Innovation Sector, Ain Shams University has achieved a new accomplishment with the Innovation Team (ASU-iHub Team) at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University (ASU-iHub) winning second place in the Orange Egypt AI-Hackathon and a prize of fifty thousand pounds, with the participation of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub) in cooperation with the ASU Career Center at the university.

This is the first achievement of the multidisciplinary innovation team (ASU-iHub Team) that was launched at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub) at Ain Shams University in early 2025, headed by Dr. Mohamed Magdy, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub).

A distinguished team of students from the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University participated in this hackathon, under the supervision of: Prof. Nagwa Badr - Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Dr. Radwa Al-Husseini, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences.

The team included the students:

Mohamed Sami Mohamed, Yomna Mohamed Bassam, Reem Tarek Ismail, Fouad Amr Mohamed, Makarios Musa Suleiman, Youssef Hani Ahmed, Omar Hussein El-Sayed, Nour Ahmed Sadek, Ammar Ahmed Mohamed, Nour Sameh Mohamed El-Sayed. The team aims to develop creative solutions using modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analysis, computer vision, and others through research and development (R&D) with the aim of transforming ideas into implementable projects that contribute to solving real problems in the industry.

It is worth noting that the Orange Egypt AI-Hackathon is an intensive two-day technical challenge (February 8-9, 2025) at the Orange Digital Center, where participants from Ain Shams University, Cairo University, the American University in Cairo, and the German University in Cairo competed to develop innovative solutions using artificial intelligence in the field of communications and technology.

The competition included intensive training on the latest artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, developing realistic On-Site solutions to address challenges in the telecommunications sector, and the projects were presented to a specialized jury that included experts from Orange and the technology field.
