Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the 19th Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine was held under the title "Laboratory Innovations: What's Behind the Scene", in the presence of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Hala Suweed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Prof. Tarek Mohamed Youssef, Director of Ain Shams University Hospital (Internal Medicine), and Prof. Yasser Zeitoun, Head of the Department of Clinical Pathology, who chaired the conference activities. The conference discussed the latest developments in the fields of immunological and chemical analyses, blood diseases and microbes, in addition to quality applications in laboratories.

Twenty faculty staff from various universities participated in the activities, where they gave specialized lectures, and leading companies presented the latest laboratory devices that contribute to improving the accuracy of diagnosis and the speed of obtaining results, which enhances the quality of healthcare. The conference witnessed a distinguished attendance of more than 300 participants from faculty members and assistant staff from various governorates of Egypt, in addition to representatives from the Armed Forces and Police Laboratories, Nasser Institute, the Cancer Institute, and the Central Laboratories of the Ministry of Health.
The conference activities included honoring three pioneering professors in the field of medical analysis, namely Prof. Neven Qassem, Prof. Aisha Yassin, and Prof. Nadia Abdel Sattar, professors of clinical pathology at the faculty. The attendees also remembered the late Prof. Ibrahim Khalil, the former head of the department, in honor of his outstanding contributions in the field.

The conference came out with several recommendations, most notably the need to keep pace with modern developments in artificial intelligence and use them in developing laboratories, while emphasizing the importance of the human element that cannot be dispensed with, and the need to support young doctors and encourage them to conduct scientific research and innovation, and enhance the role of medical laboratories in providing advanced health care.
At the conclusion of the activities, Prof. Yasser Zeitoun thanked the organizing committee for its efforts in organizing the conference, praising the outstanding performance that was reflected in the success of the event.
He also extended his thanks to Prof. Rania Abu Shadi, Secretary General of the Conference, and the members of the Organizing Committee, namely Prof. Dalia Diaa El-Din Salem, Dr. Hanaa Mustafa, Dr. Heba Sami, Dr. Maram Saeed, Dr. Rana Mohamed, Dr. Walaa Basyouni, Dr. Yasmine Hamdy, and Dr. Yasmine Mahmoud.
