Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and with the generous hosting of Prof. Walaa Mohamed Abdel-Ghani El-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and within the framework of the series of awareness seminars organized by the Education and Student Sector at Ain Shams University, an awareness seminar was held at the Faculty of Agriculture on "The Dangers of Addiction and Narcotic Substances" targeting students of the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.
The seminar was organized by the General Administration of Youth Care - Student Unions and Families Administration and the Student Union of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in cooperation with the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Drug Abuse headed by the Council of Ministers.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Rasha Mohamed Rashad, a researcher at the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Drug Abuse headed by the Council of Ministers, and Dr. Badr Abdel Aziz Badr, Director General of Legal Affairs at the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Drug Abuse headed by the Council of Ministers.
During the seminar, Dr. In her speech, Rasha discussed the role of the Drug Control and Treatment Fund in raising awareness among young people, noting that the Fund facilitated the process of rapid treatment for citizens by reporting any case of addiction through the hotline for treatment and social rehabilitation, number 16023, for advisory and therapeutic services.
She also stressed the importance of the social dimensions of the phenomenon and its impact on the individual, family and society, prevention methods, and misconceptions about drug abuse and addiction.
In his speech, Dr. Badr Abdel Aziz explained the legal dimensions of the Egyptian Drug Control Law and the crimes associated with it, such as being in a place of abuse, the crime of casual possession of narcotic substances, and others.
He also spoke about the most important features of the Drug Control and Trafficking Law, such as the treatment system for addicts and the possibility of placing the addict in a treatment center instead of a penal institution.
At the end of the symposium, a film 4x6 produced by the Fund was shown, simulating the problems of falling into addiction and its danger to young people.
The symposium witnessed a large attendance from students from the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Ain Shams University.
