Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Said, Deputy Director of the Cairo Directorate of Endowments, delivered a lecture on the philosophy of fasting as a means of self-discipline and spiritual purification. He emphasized that fasting is ordained by Allah for a noble purpose, serving as an opportunity for Muslims to elevate themselves and adhere to divine commandments. He explained that Ramadan is a time for self-discipline, devotion, and self-monitoring, where Muslims learn patience and piety, quoting Allah's words: "Fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain righteousness" (Quran 2:183). He noted that fasting helps cleanse the soul of sins and bad habits, encouraging the pursuit of noble moral values.
The floor was then opened for questions, and the speakers answered students' inquiries regarding the legal rules of fasting and its impact on human behavior.
The seminar concluded with a spiritual atmosphere, featuring religious hymns and chants performed by Sheikh Abdel Latif El-Azab Wahdan, a renowned religious chanter with Egyptian Radio and Television.
