During the symposium, Prof. Mai Tolba, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Faculty, presented a 3D tissue culture model of tumor particles extracted from tumor samples isolated from patients, as a promising tool for developing more effective treatments tailored to the nature of the tumor, considering genetic variation and mechanisms of cancer cell resistance to existing treatments.
She also explained the possibility of adding immune cells to these models to study tumor response to immunotherapies.
The symposium was attended by several faculty staff and teaching assistants from the faculty.
