The Certified Assessor Program training program was launched with broad Arab participation to enhance the quality of assessment in higher education

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and in the presence of Prof. Nedal Al-Ramahi, President of Zarqa University, the distinguished training program "Certified Assessor Program" was launched. The program is organized by the Scientific Society for Measurement and Evaluation, affiliated with the Association of Arab Universities, and headquartered at Ain Shams University in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The first session of the program began at 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with the participation of a select group of faculty members, experts, and specialists in the field of evaluation and quality of higher education from various Arab universities.

         
   
         

This program is one of the most prominent training initiatives aimed at building capacity and enhancing the professional competencies of faculty members. It focuses on enabling them to acquire advanced skills in designing and implementing modern evaluation strategies within an ethical framework that ensures integrity and excellence in educational practices. The opening session witnessed a high-level academic presence and began with welcoming remarks by several prominent figures. The speakers emphasized the importance of academic assessment in improving the quality of higher education and building an effective learning environment based on efficiency and accountability.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama expressed his pride in this unique program, noting that the Association of Arab Universities places developing the capabilities of faculty members at the forefront of its priorities by supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of educational outcomes.

He also commended the pivotal role of the Scientific Society for Measurement and Evaluation in developing and implementing this ambitious program.

For her part, Professor Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research at Ain Shams University, emphasized the university's continued commitment to supporting the development of academic competencies and strengthening effective regional partnerships.

         
   
         

She commended the Society's efforts in bridging the qualitative gap in specialized training in academic assessment, as it is a fundamental pillar of accreditation and quality assurance.

Professor Nidal Aisha, Vice President for Administrative Affairs at Zarqa University, praised the close cooperation between Zarqa University and Ain Shams University, which culminated in a strategic partnership agreement in May 2024 during the Ain Shams University Annual Conference.

He explained that Zarqa University's active participation in the program represents an important step toward enhancing academic capabilities and expanding the horizons of Arab knowledge exchange.

Prof. Mona Abdel-Aal Al-Zahri, Secretary-General of the Scientific Society for Measurement and Evaluation, also delivered a speech welcoming the participants. She explained that the program is the result of joint Arab cooperation between several universities and experts and has been carefully designed to provide advanced training content covering the most important topics in academic assessment, from designing educational objectives to analyzing outcomes and applying accreditation standards, through designing effective assessment tools and using digital technologies and artificial intelligence, within established ethical frameworks. The program extends over eight weeks, with two sessions per week, for a total of 48 training hours, in addition to asynchronous activities via the Learning Management System (LMS). Twenty-five trainees from various disciplines are participating, including 20 trainees from Zarqa University, under the supervision of Professor Reda Al-Mawadhiya, Dean of the College of Education and Director of the University's Development and Quality Assurance Unit.

The program is presented by a select group of trainers and experts from prestigious Arab universities, including Prof. Zainab Al-Sayed, Prof. Ansam Seif, Dr. Dalia Youssef from Ain Shams University, Prof. Mohamed Hassanein, Dr. Hind Abdel Majeed from King Abdulaziz University - Saudi Arabia, Prof. Mohamed Hani from the Arabian Gulf University - Bahrain, Prof. Soha Ashry from Al-Jouf University - Saudi Arabia, Prof. Dr. Jihan Sadiq from King Salman University - Egypt, Dr. Rasha Abu Qamar from Makkah National University - Saudi Arabia, Dr. Nancy Al-Husseini from Zagazig University, and other specialists in the field of measurement and evaluation. On the first day, participants expressed their great admiration for the training content and professional organization of the program, emphasizing that the program represents a qualitative addition to developing their assessment capabilities, thus contributing to improving the quality of higher education in Arab universities. The program is scheduled to continue until the end of May 2025, covering advanced topics in academic assessment, accreditation, and comprehensive quality.
