Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, announced that Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital in Obour has obtained accreditation in accordance with the quality standards issued by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR).
This accreditation represents a significant step that highlights the pioneering role of Egyptian universities in supporting the healthcare system and providing a model to be followed in institutional development and continuous improvement. It also emphasizes the importance of cooperation between the Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation Authority and the academic sector to ensure the sustainability of quality in the healthcare services provided to citizens.
In this context, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen confirmed that the hospital’s achievement of this accreditation is a culmination of the efforts made to implement the highest standards of quality and patient safety. It reflects the hospital’s commitment to applying the best practices and global standards in healthcare.

He added that this achievement contributes to improving the quality of health services provided to patients, increases citizens’ confidence in the hospital’s performance, and enhances its position as a leading medical center not only in Egypt but also at the regional level.
The university president valued the importance of the partnership with the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation, stressing that the cooperation between academic institutions and national accreditation bodies is a fundamental pillar for ensuring sustainable quality and advancing the level of healthcare in Egypt.
He also pointed out that this achievement would not have been possible without the sincere and outstanding efforts of the hospital team under the leadership of Prof. Ali Anwar, Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, who played a pivotal role in following up on the implementation of standards and supervising all development stages, in addition to the dedication of Prof. Tarek Youssef, the Executive Director of the hospitals, in coordinating efforts and ensuring the continuity of institutional improvement.
It is worth mentioning that Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital in Obour includes numerous departments and specialties, such as the dialysis unit, neonatal incubators, operating unit, cardiac care and catheterization unit, blood bank, physical medicine and rehabilitation unit, stroke unit, gastrointestinal endoscopy unit, intensive care unit, infectious and endemic diseases units, as well as 33 outpatient clinics.
