published via LAMBERT academic publishing (Germany):

Hanaa Ahmed, Gamal A. Elmegeed and Enas Elhady (2010): New insights on osteoporosis. No. 13291. ISBN 978-3-8433-7530-6.

About the Book

is widely recognized as a major public health problem. It is a serious metabolic bone disorder that often results in hip fracture and is usually asymptomatic in its initial stages. It is mainly seen in elderly people as decreased quantities of sex hormones is one important factor causing bone loss. Most patients suffering from osteoporosis are post-menopausal women exhibiting loss of estrogen. Also, menopause is associated with a substantial decline in melatonin secretion which subsequently stimulates bone resorption. Numerous drugs are approved for both the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis but with multiple side effects. This book, therefore, provides new insights for developing novel melatonin analogues containing heterocyclic moieties that could be expected to be alternative modalities for prevention and intervention of osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats as an experimental model for postmenopausal osteoporotic women. Our finding could be useful for future strategies for osteoporosis management in postmenopausal women.

Deputy Director of the Computational Biomedicine Unit Faculty of Medicine Ain Shams Research Institute (MASRI) and Secretary-General of The National Egyptian Bioinformatics Network (BioNetMasr) Executive Committee. I hold a PhD in Biochemistry from Ain Shams University (2020), and I studied Bioinformatics professional diploma at School of Information Technology and Computer Science, Nile University (2020/2021) and another Bioinformatics diploma at Institute of Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Suez Canal University (2020/2021).

I have a curiosity about bioinformatics as it requires biology, computer science and statistical knowledge necessary to solve biological problems in a way that makes use of a huge amount of data and information which is different from traditional research methods. My passion for bioinformatics is a driving force, compelling me to pursue continuous learning and practical experience.

Through delivering courses, trainings and workshops, I am keen to unveil the beauty and importance of bioinformatics to researchers, postgrads, and professors from different universities and research institutes in Egypt.

I am deeply interested in transcriptomics-based biomarker discovery, and my focus lies within the realm of cancer research. By taking advantage of cutting-edge computational tools and leveraging large-scale transcriptomic datasets, my research aims to identify key genes whose dysregulated expression contributes to cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, and treatment resistance.

I am engaged in diverse ongoing research projects, including Gut Microbiomics, HCC, breast cancer, and non-small cell lung cancer studies.

My ultimate goals are to contribute meaningfully to scientific research, publish in prestigious international journals, and actively engage in the global transmission of scientific knowledge.
