Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, in an open dialogue with students of the Faculty of Education about social security as one of the elements of national security and the danger of epidemic divorce to it...
Dr. Al-Abd, "The family, not the individual, is the nucleus of society and its main pillar."
Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, Director of the Middle East Research and Future Studies Center, gave a symposium today, Monday, March 11, entitled "Divorce and widowhood and their risks to social security", at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University. The symposium was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Safaa Shehata, Dean of the Faculty, and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Nevin Zakaria, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, and organized by Prof. Dr. Asmaa Nabil Ihsan and Dr. Amal Mohamed Rabie.
The symposium was opened by Prof. Dr. Nevin Zakaria, welcoming Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, expressing her great happiness for the Faculty of Education to receive Dr. Al-Abd, for his abundant knowledge and presentation style that is characterized by being easy and difficult. Her Excellency also stressed the importance of the symposium topic, which is reviewing the book "Divorce and Widowhood and Their Dangers to Social Security", authored by Dr. Al-Abd, especially for its comprehensiveness and simplicity, and its coverage of the most minute details of the relationship between men and women, and the role of society in all its bodies in confronting this dilemma, in light of the recent rise in divorce rates to the point that it has become a widespread societal phenomenon, which necessitated the need to discuss this issue that affects societal peace and threatens to undermine the pillars of the Egyptian family.

Dr. Hatem Al-Abd then took the floor, thanking the honorable professors for their warm reception, and His Excellency stressed the need for academics to play their educational and reformist role, and to pay attention to the problems and concerns of their society, hence his keenness to write this book to address this phenomenon and identify its causes and results, and to confront the negative ideas inherited within Egyptian society based on preconceived judgments and the virtual disdain for widows and divorcees.

Therefore, this book came to include two parts; Diagnosis of the disease and description of the medicine.
Dr. Al-Abd pointed out the need to distinguish between two types of divorce; therapeutic divorce and epidemic divorce; the first is the divorce that God Almighty has ordered in the event that the couple cannot live together, while the latter is what occurs shortly after marriage for flimsy reasons, the most important of which is the lack of awareness and the spread of false ideas that are alien to our society and imported from the West, the main goal of which is to colonize minds and destroy the Egyptian family, which is the nucleus of society, not the individual, similar to European societies, and then undermine the pillars of Egyptian society.
Dr. Al-Abd also stressed in his speech that marriage is a sacred bond and a solemn covenant, and the origin in Islam is the eternity of marriage and the unity of the wife, not polygamy, which has specific conditions and restrictions. However, those who were not successful in their first experience should be encouraged to try marriage again on sound foundations, learn from previous mistakes, and sense the religiousness and sanctity of the marital relationship.
Finally, Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, the necessity for the state with all its institutions, as well as civil society with all its bodies and elements, to undertake the task of spreading the necessary religious and cultural awareness to confront this phenomenon, and correcting many misconceptions and inherited negative ideas, whether by holding training and rehabilitation courses for young people about to get married, or through educational institutions, or through various media and social media.

After the end of Dr. Hatem Al-Abd's speech, the floor was opened for discussion in front of the attendees and all their inquiries were answered.

At the end of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Nevin Zakaria presented a certificate of honor to Dr. Hatem Al-Abd, in appreciation of his distinguished effort.
